December Pacific Division Director’s Message
December 10, 2025

QST QST QST to all ARRL members and amateur radio operators in the
Pacific Division.

This is my first message to you all as your newly elected Pacific
Division Director. Let me begin by saying THANK YOU to all of you who
voted in the election. Whether you voted for Bob W6RGG or I is not as
important as the fact that you were engaged in the process and had your
voice heard. I hope we will leverage your energy and enthusiasm in the
coming months and years as we shape the Pacific Division into the leader
at ARRL we all know we can and should be.

Call to Action Continues –
Keep engaged in the Amateur Radio Emergency Preparedness Act. If you
have not sent your letters to Congress, please go to the ARRL website at
https://www.arrl.org/current-legislation and follow the simple
instructions to join the fight to pass this important bill. Club
leaders, your combined voices need to be heard as well, and your
instructions are available from the same web page. Also, there has been
added an opportunity for those of us with GMRS licenses or our neighbors
with GMRS licenses to be included. See the same web page for details.

Town Hall
As the next Board Meeting approaches, I promised the opportunity to be
informed and offer suggestions to Dr. Carol KP4MD and I to bring to HQ.
Our next Pacific Division Town Hall Meeting will be Sunday December 14th
starting at 1900 hours via Zoom. You will find the Zoom information at
https://pacific.arrl.org/town-hall We will continue these informational
work sessions throughout the coming years with a “PRE” board meeting
town hall about a month before the Board Meeting and a “POST” board
meeting town hall meeting about a month afterwards.

Year of the Club and WAS-250
2026 is “The Year of the Club” with lots of activities on the air
for clubs to participate. There will also be opportunities to be
recognized for growth, great websites, great newsletters, and more.
There is also going to be two weeks during 2026 that your club may
operate as W1AW/6, W1AW/7 (Nevada), W1AW/KH* (Pacific Section).
California W1AW/6 is scheduled for the week of 4/1/2026 and the week of
Pacificon in October.
Nevada W1AW/7 still needs a State Coordinator (volunteer?) and your
weeks are 5/6/26 and 10/28/26. Hawaii W1AW/KH6 your weeks are 3/18/26
and 8/19/26. Your State Coordinator is Alan AD6E, Pacific Section
Manager – Thank you Alan for volunteering.

America250 is a Special Event Worked All States Award starting January
2026 in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of
Independence and our “birthday” as a country. Get on the air and
earn this special event award.

Watch for your January 2026 QST for more announcements and ARRL Weekly
News Bulletins.

I encourage you to get on the air, learn one new thing this month, open
your copy of On The Air, National Contest Journal, QEX or QST and
discover something new of different about Amateur Radio this month.

If your club has a holiday gathering, make your best effort to be there
and enjoy each other’s company. As my good friend Gary WA6UXA (SK)
would say, “get on the air, call CQ and make a new friend”

From the Division Leadership Team – Happy Holidays to all and to all a
joyous and prosperous New Year.

73 and stay Radio Active!
