FYI –

This is an early reminder for Field Day that went out to all PIOs in all sections.
Well, it may have gone to “all members” rather than “all PIOs”. Someone may have erred there.
Hawaii has only one PIO at this point, Russel, KH6JRM.  So, I’m assuming none of you have seen this yet.
Does your club have a PIO? If so please let me know. This could be the same as your club contact person.
I’m forwarding this to all the Hawaii registered ARRL clubs by the contact information available on the ARRL Clubs list. Please review that information for your club and make sure everything is up to date. Some clubs are missing a contact email address.
Enter HAWAII as the state, nothing else. You’ll see all Hawaii clubs. Then select your club to see what’s listed. Is it accurate?
Field Day is the biggest emcomm drill of the year. Contest? Well, if you want it to be then it can be, but the important point of the whole event is to get your club active and on the air. Personally, I’ll be doing my usual job of CW operator at KH6RS. Don’t forget to have someone in your club send me a message during Field Day for the “Send your SM a message” bonus points. It isn’t so much for the points, but as an emcomm exercise, sending messages from the field is an important skill. I recommend Winlink. Send to KH6TU

Hello ARRL Public Information Volunteers,

You are invited to join members of the ARRL Public Relations Committee as we host a live, interactive, workshop to help your club get ready for 2025 ARRL Field Day.

The event will be live on Zoom Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 8:30 PM EDT.

Please register at this link, as advance registration is required.

We’ll cover:

  • How to build a social media strategy to engage members of your local community.
  • Press releases and media strategy to get the news to help you promote the event.
  • Tips for doing great interviews and media hits.
  • Getting a proclamation from your local officials.
  • Building your club’s visual asset library to help promote next year (and throughout the year)
  • Much more!

You’ll have a chance to get your questions answered by veteran PR experts from around the ham radio community. If you can’t join us for the live event, a replay will be posted after.

If you haven’t already, please download the 2025 ARRL Field Day Public Relations Kit [PDF]. It will give you a toolkit to get started – including a press release template that you can use for your activation.

We’re seeing a lot of lift for ham radio from this month’s ARRL Ham Radio Open House program, let’s continue that momentum into the largest amateur radio event – ARRL Field Day!

I look forward to seeing you in the workshop!

73,

Sierra Harrop, W5DX
