Skywarn HAM activation possible for the High Wind and Flooding Event

Spotters,
We await word from NWS HFO this evening as to whether or not the Skywarn HAM network of operators is activated for this high wind and flooding event.
I had not received any word which prompted me to reach out to Sheana and Dennis, the two meteorologists who control Skywarn and Skywarn HAM. They are off shift. I plan on checking with them upon their return this evening.
The Warning Coordination Meteorologist, John Bravendar, is not in the office today.
Joe, AH6T, is setting up HF Watch Nets.
I encourage all operators to pay close attention to this unfolding event.
Stay safe and do not endanger yourself by operating in an unsafe environment.
Review Severe Weather Report (SWR) criteria.
Timing of impacts may change between now and when they hit.

...HIGH WIND WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM HST THIS EVENING
THROUGH LATE THURSDAY NIGHT...

* WHAT...Southwest winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 45 mph
  possible.

* WHERE...Big Island East, Big Island Interior, Big Island North,
  Big Island South, Big Island Southeast, Kohala, and Kona.

* WHEN...From 6 PM HST this evening through late Thursday night.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines.
  Widespread power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult,
  especially for high profile vehicles.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take precautions now to protect property. Tie down loose objects or
move them to a sheltered location.

A High Wind Watch means that strong and potentially damaging winds
in excess of 40 mph with frequent gusts over 60 mph are expected bu

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
  possible.

* WHERE...All the main Hawaiian islands.

* WHEN...From this evening through Friday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Flood prone roads and other low lying areas may be
  closed due to elevated runoff and overflowing streams. Urban areas
  may receive more significant flooding and property damage due to
  rapid runoff.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - A strong winter low pressure system approaching will pass
    north of Kauai on Thursday, with a cold front advancing down
    the island chain Thursday through Friday.  The threat of
    heavy rainfall and thunderstorms developing along and ahead
    of the front will quickly increase tonight and persist
    through Friday.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
